Host Families (Homestays)

It is strongly suggested international students choose to live with a local family for a few months when they first arrive. A short stay with families in private homes when you first arrive allows you to get familiar with the school and surroundings and make friends. Once you are more adjusted to life abroad, you can then choose to move to an apartment with student friends you have made.

For more than 25 years, International Student Placements for homestays, a national homestay organization, has successfully placed thousands of international students with host families. International Student Placements for homestays works closely with SRJC and has a representative especially for SRJC students. The International Student Placement hosts are personally interviewed in their home, screened, and selected for the program. Host families are located within a reasonable distance to SRJC, typically within an 8 to 11 kilometer radius. All students have a private bedroom. Most students will share a bathroom with other members of the host family. International Student Placements for homestays has very flexible 1, 2, and 3 month housing options for students who may want the opportunity to get their feet on the ground when they first arrive as they are getting aquatinted to life in the US.

PRICING • Placement fee: $375 • Private bedroom and meals (breakfast and dinner): $1,000/month • Private bedroom only (no meals): $825/month • Airport pickup fee: $120 per person
