English Language Studies Program

The ELSP program at SRJC is designed for intermediate level English Language learners, who need 1-2 semesters of ESL before beginning our Academic Program. We can refer beginning level learners to one of our partner institutions that offer ESL in an intensive format.

The TOEFL is required for admission to our ELSP to help us determine your level of proficiency.  With over 30 years of experience teaching English as a Second Language (ESL), SRJC provides challenging and interesting classes designed to prepare you for success in college level courses. SRJC offers instruction, taught by highly qualified ESL faculty, which will match your current level. To ensure that you will be placed in ESL classes that will support your success, a placement test is given to determine your current skill level. Once you complete the advanced level of our ESL program, you can enroll in one of our many academic programs without taking the TOEFL or IELTS. Our dedicated staff will assist you before you arrive on our beautiful campus and will be here to ensure your needs are met as you complete your ESL program, earn your two-year associates degree, prepare to transfer to a four-year college/university, or return to your home country better prepared for the work force. Our ESL program services also include a new student orientation, academic planning, immigration and visa guidance, access to all SRJC facilities, and a wide variety of social activities.
